About Faramarz: An Iranian Artist

Faramarz Mehrak was born in 1947 and was educated in Tehran, and studied architecture at the university of Louisiana in the US. His project won a recommendation from his university. It was during this period in his life that Faramarz became familiar with the life and culture of Native Americans in the US through a Native American friend. He returned to Iran in 1977 and began his work as a professional architect. He spent some time in Spain where he completed many projects, but again returned to Iran where he worked on domestic and commercial architecture as well Interior design. Between 1983 and 1985 he was forced to cut down on his professional activities due to poor health. This period led to his pursuing his other artistic talents and interests which included painting, Native American handicrafts and bas-relief He exhibited his work on a number of occasions. These included hand made items inspired by Native American culture crafted from leather, beads and feathers; each piece designating a certain aspect of the tribal life of Native Americans.
